Palmetto Appaloosa's

Southern Hospitality Registered ApHC Horse Show

The following is a letter written by exhibitor Phyllis Kirby of Chuluota, FL. The letter was published in the August 2006 Appaloosa Journal in Letters from Readers. Thanks so much, Phyllis, for the lovely letter! We are so proud to have made the show an enjoyable experience for our exhibitors, and will strive to do so again for many years to come we hope! Thanks again!

I’m writing to alert my fellow Appaloosa exhibitors to a gem of a show put on annually by the Palmetto Appaloosa Horse Club in Clemson, SC.  The show is held at the T. Ed Garrison Arena in Clemson, SC, and this year fell on May 6th & 7th. This facility has a large, indoor, colliseum-type arena, which makes it perfect for getting your horse in an indoor arena prior to Nationals.  There is also a large covered arena for warming up, and I saw at least two other practice pens.  The stalls are roomy and well kept, and there are plenty of hookups for RV’s, with electricity, water and sewer.    But the real draw of this show is the club members.   They went to great lengths to make us feel welcome.  The friendliness of these folks reminded me why I so love my extended Appaloosa family.  The show included over $3,000.00 in added money, as well as other amenities such as a silent auction and a free exhibitor dinner on Saturday night.  Each exhibitor got a show program and pattern book when they registered. The high point awards were beautiful director chairs that had been hand painted depicting an Appaloosa in the discipline for which that chair was the high point award.  Four Winds West did their usual great job of running the office, and the ring steward and gate keeper couldn’t have been more friendly or courteous.  We drove 9-1/2 hours to this show, and it was worth every minute.  If you are anywhere on the east coast, this is a show you shouldn’t miss.

Sincerely,

Phyllis Kirby

We feel T. Ed Garrison is the premier showing facility in South Carolina. Not only are they equipped with the indoor and covered arenas, but also an open arena for warm-up, top class stables with washracks, and camper/trailer hook-ups. Pendleton, SC is also a prime location for those traveling from Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee.

The show itself is a four judge show over two days. Lots of opportunities for those points we all need! The Southern Hospitality ApHC Registered Show is one not to be missed! We'll see you all there!
